What is an International edition textbook?

Publishers often follow a dual price system for pricing textbooks. Dual pricing refers to the system used by publishers where textbooks intended for U.S. sale are priced significantly higher than alternate versions of the same textbook intended for sale overseas. Publishers argue such pricing system with various reason, including but not limited to purchasing power of the customers in the target market, cost of production of lower quality versions for overseas markets etc. Such cheaper versions of the books are are referred to by many names such as 'International edition', 'Eastern Economy Edition', 'Asian Edition', 'South Asian Edition', etc, which are collectively and popularly known as International Edition.
