A revised standard textbook (3rd ed., 1990) for an undergraduate physiology course--a prerequisite course for many majors and intended careers. Since most of the students will not have extensive science backgrounds, the beginning chapters introduce and review basic chemical and biological concepts that are needed to understand physiology. Health applications are discussed often to improve understanding of the physiological concepts and to aid the transfer of knowledge to the areas of the students' career interests. Annotation c.
