Institutional Failures: Duke Lacrosse, Universities, the News Media, and the Legal System

The authors of this new collection argue that the many disparate facets of the now-infamous Duke University lacrosse controversy are best understood in the context of the three major socio-legal institutions in which this drama played out: the legal system, the American university, and the news media. These essays consider the role these institutions played in this case, and the lessons it might teach about the appropriate conduct and function of each of them.
