Essentials of Reading, Instructor's Manual'

Contemporary's Essentials of Reading is a series of six books that begins with a text for nonreading adults. Book 1 begins by introducing the alphabet and numbers. With the successful completion of the posttest in Book 6, students should be able to read at the sixth grade level. All six books have been designed as stand-alone texts. Each text concludes with a posttest used to determine if students are ready for the next level. This Instructor's Manual provides an overview of the series, characteristics of the adult learner, suggestions for using Essentials of Reading, using TABE to assess student needs, suggestions of learning models, additional activities, sample lesson plans, discussion of ESL students and possible classroom strategies, workplace literacy, answer keys, SCANS correlation, sample real-lfe forms, and certificates of completion for each book.
