Budget and Economic Outlook: An Update (August 2006)

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has updated its baseline budget projections for the coming decade. By statute, those projections must assume that current laws and policies remain in place. The baseline is therefore not intended to ber a prediction of future budgetary outcomes; instead, it is meant to serve as a neutral benchmark lawmakers can use to measure the effects of proposed changes to spending and revenues.
