This book examines the interactions between economic change and urbanization, in the form of structural shifts in employment, regional development policy, and national industrial policy. It also discusses the human welfare problems associated with rapid urbanization and a lack of government finance. Its conclusions move beyond the scope of the four country case-studies to identify urban planning issues that are relevant to all developing countries.
