The world has become unbalanced, growing hateful in a time of uncertainty and change. A new magic called science is growing across the lands, but the wild magic of the old times has not faded away completely-yet.

Ay hadn't even made it home from the last job before her crew was hired for another, this time by a young man who had been accused of being part of a kidnapping ring. Desperate to find his friends and clear his name, this young man left the safety of the inner circle to seek aid in the less friendly side of the city. He found them: Mid-Stops least popular mercenaries.

Forced to team up with adventurers, the mismatched group heads out into the dangers of the forest to guide the young man into the unknown. What Ay and her family uncover is not just a string of kidnappings that link to her past, but a threat to the world as they know it, an ancient power that could save, or destroy, them all. Hers is a fate she cannot deny, and a love she had never looked for.
