Beneath the Layers of Hope

my pillows hold my first kisses

which were meant to be yours

and so were my first hugs

my pillows heard my first confessions

and my first breakdowns

I cried on them thinking it was your chest

that I sobbed into

I dug my nails deep into them trying to hurt you

and now they ask me

what was it that they did wrong?
