Signs of Friendship

Jane and Dean are having their new neighbors the Emersons over. Since both of them are concerned that the conversation might lag, she has loaded up the table with goodies and he has written questions on his arm. Jane suggests a further safeguard-hand signals to indicate when the topic of conversation should change or speed up, or when she's getting bored. Just then, the Emerson's arrive. Within a few minutes, Jane and Dean are trying out their hand signals-and getting everything mixed up. As the tension builds, they observe the Emersons are also signaling to each other!
