Invisible Elephants

Invisible Elephants addresses some of the hidden problems that face young people today, with the 'invisible elephant' used as a place holder for alcoholism, drug addiction, unwanted physical contact or family violence. This particular story is based on the author's early life growing up in an alcoholic family and is written from the perspective of a young child. The advice at the back of the book reinforces the strategies for dealing with an invisible elephant, should a child find themselves to be living with one. It encourages young people to speak out and seek help in a safe way. Sadly, children dealing with these situations are frequently sworn to silence and do not feel able to seek the help they so desperately need.
