What Can We Do?: A Working-class Strategy to Confront Economic Crisis and War

The signs of a deep social and economic crisis are all too obvious: massive increases in prices of fuel, food, and electricity; homeless people on the streets; raw sewage fouling the coastlines; hospital waiting lists getting ever longer; crumbling roads; spreading wars. The ruling class has neither the will nor the means to solve these problems: meaningful relief from the rocketing fuel prices is dismissed as irresponsible, tax hikes and higher interest rates are shrugged off as unavoidable; old-age pensions and adequate funding for cancer treatments ruled out as unsustainable.

What is not so obvious is what working people can do to fight these problems. The essays in this book take up aspects of this challenge, from inflation, housing and healthcare, to Jew-hatred, climate change, child welfare, and freedom of speech.
