Maddie's New Normal

When life suddenly changes for Maddie and everyone she knows, she must learn to make the best of her new normal.

COVID-19 changed routines, habits, and general daily life for people all over the world. Maddie's struggle through these changes serves as encouragement for all of us to accept our challenges and enjoy life as it is. Her struggles help children realize they are not alone.

Colors and art can show emotion. We've used illustrations in this story to show how Maddie adjusts to this new way of living. Colors in art can represent and spark various emotions. In the book, notice how the colors in the illustrations slowly fade to gray reflecting Maddie's feelings.

As she is impacted by the pandemic, she is overwhelmed and sad. Thus, the colors begin to fade away along with her happiness. When Maddie begins to adjust and find joy in her new normal, the color and cheer is added back to her world. The author's hope is that Maddie's story can help the reader accept the changes in the world and begin to find color and happiness!
