These Hidden Truths: Psychometrics, Society, and the Unspeakable Heresies of Our Time

These Hidden Truths represents a foray into the world of personality, offering answers to the timeless questions of "Who am I?" and "How am I different from other people?" These Hidden Truths makes the scientific findings of a hundred years of psychometric research easily accessible to the common man.

Henshaw provides numerous tidbits to delight and amuse, covering everything from career interests (what kind of job is best for me?) to chess (are grandmasters really that smart?) to astrology (does it actually work?) to the battle of the sexes (why are men so insensitive?). Fascinating information on the heritability of personality, racial issues, and the psychometric implications for political and religious divides are also discussed in detail.

But the most important aspect of These Hidden Truths is its discussion on generational changes in personality: anxiety levels have been dramatically rising in America for the past half century, while the genetic foundation for intelligence has been gradually eroding. Henshaw presses forward where others flinch back, providing an insightful analysis on the philosophical ramifications of psychometric research-research which calls into question not only the most basic tenets of modern society, but also the ultimate survival of civilization itself.
