Jamaal Magloire: A Biography

Jamaal Magloire: A Biography chronicles the life of this imposing sports figure. It traces a path from his Trinidadian heritage to his decorated high school career in Toronto. It details the rollercoaster ride from top recruit to benchwarmer to champion during his years at the University of Kentucky and his meteoric ascension from NBA long-shot to NBA All-Star.

But Jamaal Magloire: A Biography does not stop on the basketball court. This book examines Jamaal's life and legacy as a whole-the tragic murder of his brother, his commitment to and involvement with his community, and his much-lamented reluctance to represent Canada in international competition.

He is arguably one of the two greatest basketball players in Canada's history, and a tireless advocate for the underprivileged when not on the hardcourt. Yet, considering his accomplishments in the NCAA and NBA and his selfless commitment to the community, Jamaal Magloire has received an underwhelming reception by his country.

This book recounts the multitude of achievements that make Jamaal worthy of adulation, and thoughtfully considers the various factors that might preclude him from receiving it.

Jamaal Magloire: A Biography is an attempt to shed light on the life of this enigmatic Canadian, and a must-read for any fan of basketball or remarkable coming-of-age stories.
