This is a top read. You'll fall in love with the colourful characters and their adventures. Set in the past with great attention to description and detail it's easy to visualise the world of Dr Manky. Fantastic maps which really help you immerse yourself in a time of the past.

Tim Thompson's 'When Doctor Manky Strolled In' takes you away to a medieval world animated with witty invention and lively characters. I couldn't put it down.

In the Duchy of Lower Icing, the peace is about to be shattered when the Duke is attacked in strange circumstances. Drawn into a web of conspiracy is an ex-burglar, a young doctor, a royal guard, a gamekeeper and a butcher. Many questions are raised; who is the mysterious Dr. Manky? How are the sun worshiping zealots involved? Will a simple silver button lead to the fall of a Duchy?
I was drawn to this at my bookstore; an eye catching cover, a local author, and a uniquely interesting premise made me pick it up, and I was not disappointed. The medieval world of The Five Duchies is incredibly well thought out and is clearly made with passion and finely crafted by the author.
If you love detailed maps, hilariously named places and interesting characters, this is definitely one to check out. It is hard to describe it and give it justice so I'll just say if you mixed Sweeney Todd with Terry Pratchett you'd be somewhere in the ballpark.

'When Frank Offcut Went Missing' is the entertaining and thrilling conclusion of the 'Silver Button Saga'. It was a pleasure to read, funny and wise.

This is the sequel to When Dr Manky Strolled In and it definitely doesn't disappoint. Loved the new points of view and the twists and turns the story takes. If you enjoy a bit of a mystery mixed with some humour I highly recommend.
