The Secret of Arnion

A chapter book for children aged 10 - 13 years.

Twelve-year-old John is filled with trepidation as he enters the dreadful gates of his new school. His worst fears are realised as he encounters Mad Max and his sidekicks as they transform his day from dismal to unbearable. Cornered by the bullies, and taking a smack in the face, John's glasses go flying. Max's shoe lands on them, crunching and twisting them into the dirt. They're ruined. Max returns to class, invisible to everyone except a girl who will become a ray of light in his world - Melinda. The girl with the deep, soulful eyes, eyes that really see him.

Once at home with his gran, out of the school grounds, away from his tormentors, John covers up the story of how his glasses were broken. His gran says she will get them fixed, but John puts them on his bedside table instead. During the night, needing a glass of milk, John fumbles for his glasses, forgetting that they had been damaged the previous day. And then, as he lifts them up to put them on his face, the most remarkable thing happens. They begin to GLOW!

John encounters Gismoh, a supernatural being who whisks him away to the Unseen Realm. Together they have many adventures as John is challenged to discover the Secret of Arnion. It is in the Unseen Realm that John trains to be a warrior as he faces the diabolical dragon, Abaddon. John's journey becomes a life-and-death race against time, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
