Alexis Ashley is somehow drawn into this web of intrigue when she decides to relocate from Chicago to Boston. On the long drive east things go completely awry as she finds herself challenged by multiple frightening, life-threatening incidents; an seasonable April blizzard; being stalked by a strangely intelligent and rabid dog; a dangerous bridge washout; and a near collision with another car. Finally arriving safely at her Boston destination, however she brushes it all off as coincidence, and happily begins her new life.
Then, more terrifying situations begin to unfold: Satanists with mysterious designs on her life; demons hiding within the bodies and lives of those they've possessed; and visions peopled with those long dead. Outwardly, Alexis appears to live an ordinary, normal life when in fact she's living with unspeakably frightening horrors that threaten not only her sanity, but possibly even her life.
