What Many Men Desire

Audrey Simmons-part African-American, part white, part Cherokee-is young, talented, and unusually attractive. She's determined to make her name in the fashion world. But it's 1936-if she's to have any chance at success, she must "pass" for white in her work life. Ignoring the possible dangers, and despite her straight-laced upbringing, Audrey accepts the offer of a "gentleman" to be his assistant on a trip to England, First Class, aboard the new ocean liner, the Queen Mary. For her, it's an irresistible chance to get to the heart of fashion-London and Paris. But her eyes are opened on this journey. The "gentleman" is not what he seems. And a man she meets onboard, who makes her heart race, turns out to be a professional gambler. Audrey's forced to grow up fast.
