The discovery of spa waters led to the development of the town of Cheltenham as a popular resort attracting the well-to-do and influential of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Elaine Heasman is a long-standing member of Cheltenham Local History Studies and currently editor of the Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society's newsletter.
