Robert S. Stering is a retired police officer who worked for 25 years in a relatively large agency, which consisted of 160 members serving a city population of 60,000. He spent time in patrol and administrative areas including evidence officer, department accreditation manager, planning and research, and was a crime analyst for the last 17 years of his career. During his last 17 years, he was instrumental in the department becoming nationally accredited under the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, (C.A.L.E.A.) and twice under the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, MPAC ). Robert S. Stering was a founding member of Massachusetts Police Accreditation Coalition (MASS-Pac), an organized group of law enforcement agencies that met monthly for the purpose of achievement of accreditation within their own respective agencies. This was the first coalition formed in the United States and was a model for many states in the years to come. Robert S. Stering is also a Certified Criminal Intelligence Analyst, (C.C.I.A.), receiving certification from California State College, the California Department of Justice, and Westfield State College. He is also the founder of the Massachusetts Association of Crime Analysts (MACA).
