Dennis C. Tanner received the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Audiology and Speech Sciences with a minor in Psychiatry from Michigan State University. Dr. Tanner has published papers on the psychology of neurogenic communication disorders have addressed loss, grief, chronic depression, nursing considerations, culture care issues, loss of verbal coping skills, and disorientation in brain injured persons. Tanner has presented two mini-courses on the psychology of aphasia and related disorders at conventions of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and has been named Outstanding Educator by the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions. Dr. Tanner serves as an expert witness in legal cases involving patients with communication and swallowing disorders and is currently Professor of Health Sciences at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
