Come as You Are: Sermons On The Lord's Supper

Communion is an inexhaustible mystery -- a gift of God's grace. Yet because it is familiar we sometimes take it for granted. Though theologians may disagree about exactly what happens in and through the sacrament, we all agree that something happens -- at the Lord's Supper we are changed. Gondola explores the wonder of communion in these captivating and well-illustrated sermons.

How often are sermons engaging, edifying, and instructive... all at once? Alex Gondola has the rare gift of putting it all together. His preaching joins theological substance with day-to-day realities. Parishioners sit up and listen and come back for more. So will the readers of this fine book.

Alex Gondola displays a storyteller's ability in opening up sacred texts. What grips me most is the sense that for him preaching is not a chore but a joy... I find in his sermons theological clarity without the heaviness of a scholastic. There is also careful attention to the text that prevents lapsing into a bland folksiness.
