By demonstrating that the new structures were not a breakdown, but rather a breakthrough in the concept of form, the author has provided formal justification for the use of the much-debated term «expressionism.» The study contains comparative analyses of the use of typographic structure, rhyme, meter, syntax and semantics, and rhythm in the works of five prominent poets.
