Grenada County was created from lands ceded from the Choctaw Indians in 1833, even though the county was not officially created until the 1870's. It sits in the North Central portion of the State and is surrounded by the counties of: Calhoun, Carroll, Leflore, Montgomery, Sumner/Webster, Tallahatchie, and Yalobusha.
