Inspired by her family's unpreparedness in losing her own father, the author chose a life-long career of being a voice for families and their loved ones.

Beverly encourages families to talk with each other, discuss their wishes, and to use the support networks available in cases of serious to terminal illness. A terminal diagnosis does not have to mean giving up hope and instant death.
