'Introduction to Stone Carving, ' is an illustrated guide to the art of direct stone carving by award winning artist, DJ Garrity. Developed during his tenure as Sculptor-In-Residence of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The artist employs the human face as a template to demonstrate the use of basic hand tools and techniques to create unique works in stone. The procedures outlined in the guide serve as a basis for workshops and seminars at botanic gardens, museums and art associations across America and Ireland.
