A supervisor has choices in performing the role of a supervisor. You can choose to be a good supervisor, a bad supervisor or just mediocre. You can't rely on your employer to make these choices for you. Most of what is discussed in this book is within your personal control. As explained, there are many choices you can make. You may not be able to follow through on all of them but you should understand you don't have to try to do them all at once. It is more important just to start with some and then progress to more difficult choices. However, even though you can control these choices no one said making these choices would be easy. All of the choices in this book are doable if you decide they are important.
