Provisions is about struggle: financial, interpersonal, racial, familial, and the unknown darkness where fear intersects faith. Two couples meet under fortuitous circumstances, and embark on a friendship as they share similar musical goals. Tim and Theresa's job-search struggles continue as the sour flavor of being middle-aged in a job market that values youth above experience taunts them. Cole and Shara dream of achieving recognition in the music industry, but their fights with the local moneyed and powerful sully every successful performance. They face their own demons from a painful past, as they struggle to find forgiveness and healing. Their relationship is tested when Shara comes to grips with her husband's past agonies, and her own wrongdoing. Their faith in God is challenged as they discover how difficult it is to forgive. But a new agony descends from an unexpected source. Another musician's obsession blinds his good sense, and Cole literally catches the flak. The resulting tragedy brings Tim and Theresa to a turning point of their own. Provisions is drawn from author Jana Meehan's personal experiences in music, and delivers a glimpse into the industry and the personalities that drive it. Her husband, Carl Bibbs, a night club singer, died in 2005, but left her with a deep catalog of memories, experiences, heartbreaks, and triumphs.
