What the Frog Saw

A little frog has spent all his life in a well, where he eats, sleeps, and hop hop hops! So content with his life is the frog that he has never thought to look beyond the little circle of sky he sees when he looks up. But one day a turtle, all the way from the distant sea, comes and pokes his head into the well. How will the little frog deal with learning about something as vast as the turtle's home?

This story retells the classic Chinese tale behind the "chengyu" 井底之蛙, or frog at the bottom of the well. Chengyu are idioms commonly used in modern Chinese that often harken back for centuries in their origin. Learning chengyu is an essential part of learning to speak and read Chinese.
