Book of Job: The Eighteenth Book of the Old Testament With Twenty-Two Engravings of William Blake

"The Book of Job" stands as one of the most profound and influential works of wisdom literature in the Old Testament, grappling with eternal questions regarding human suffering, divine justice, and the nature of faith. This edition presents the biblical narrative alongside twenty-two iconic engravings by the visionary artist and poet William Blake. Blake's intricate illustrations serve as a spiritual and psychological interpretation of Job's trials, depicting his journey from prosperity through despair to final restoration.

The work follows the story of Job, a man of great piety whose life is suddenly upended by a series of calamities. As he dialogues with his friends and ultimately encounters the presence of the Almighty, the text explores the complexities of the human condition and the mystery of the divine will. Blake's engravings are widely considered among his greatest masterpieces, offering a visual depth that complements the poetic intensity of the scripture. This volume is a valuable resource for those interested in biblical studies, religious art history, and the intersection of literature and the visual arts.
