Erich Fromm: A Political Theory of Fascism

This book depicts Erich Fromm as a political theorist, despite the paucity of references to him in the field of political theory. It demonstrates Fromm's political theory transcends the conventional disciplinary boundaries of political theory and how his distinctive psychoanalytic perspective is pivotal to comprehending the fundamental nature of fascist politics and addressing intricate socio-political problems such as authoritarianism and alienation. The book argues that Fromm's socio-psychoanalytic analysis, underpinned by his distinctive characterological approach to political theory, is indispensible for deciphering and effectively dealing with twenty-first century fascism, or what has been termed "postfascism". The book is accessible and comprehensive, and as such will be of great interest to students, scholars, and researchers of political theory, especially fascism and authoritarianism.
