Where is the Sun's Bedroom?

River loves watching the sunset. From her home in California, she watches it set at Joshua Tree National Park and Del Mar beach, but she is always left wondering where it goes when it disappears each night.

River's parents as well as her great grandpa (GG) in Kenya help her understand the earth's rotation and the sun's journey across the globe, bringing sunset to one side of the world at the same time as sunrise to the other. Although River's family is separated by distance, these shared moments under the sun bring her a sense of connection and unity, and she is able to then bid farewell to the sun at night knowing that it marks a new beginning for others on the opposite side of the world.
