No Greater Love

For any of us, true, unconditional love is among the most meaningful experiences we can hope to have. But for those of us who live with disability, it can be lifesaving.

Touching and beautifully written, No Greater Love tells the story of Kari Harrington's life. Born with cerebral palsy, Kari was adopted as an infant by two loving parents whose devotion to her would carry her through her childhood and adolescence. Though she faces a great many difficulties, she is always championed by those around her, who help her with her needs, be they physical, mental, or emotional, allowing her to lead a life not unlike most others', despite her mobility issues, hearing and speech impairment, and inability to walk. A huge part in this is her reliance on "Blissymbols," a unique way of allowing her to communicate for herself, using the use of symbols developed by Charles Bliss. Along the way, Kari details her experience in various living situations, relationships with her aides, her family and upbringing, her romantic dalliances, and much else.

No Greater Love is a heartening tale for those of us whose life has been touched by disability, whether directly or in someone we love.
