Echoes in Mallorca: The Island Where The Journey Began

Before the Costa Brava, before the stories that would define a lifetime, there was Mallorca. In Echoes in Mallorca, Wesley Baker takes readers back to the very beginning, to a young man stepping onto foreign soil for the first time as an overseas travel representative, wide-eyed, uncertain, and quietly searching for direction.

Set against the sunlit backdrop of Mallorca in the late 1980s, this deeply personal memoir captures the raw and unfiltered reality of life working abroad. From airport arrivals and welcome meetings to late nights in Magaluf and moments of quiet reflection along the island's rugged coastline, the story unfolds with honesty, warmth, and a touch of humour.

This is not just a tale of travel, but of growth. Of learning quickly, sometimes painfully, what it means to stand on your own two feet in a world far from home. Along the way, friendships are formed, boundaries are tested, and a deeper connection to people, place, and purpose begins to take shape.

Mallorca itself becomes a character in the story, from the lively energy of Palmanova and Palma to the breathtaking calm of the island's northwest coast. Through it all, there is a sense of something beginning, a life slowly revealing itself through experience, mistakes, and moments that linger long after the season ends.

Written with the reflective voice that has made Wesley Baker's memoirs resonate with readers, Echoes in Mallorca is a story of youth, discovery, and the first real taste of independence.

For anyone who has ever worked abroad, travelled in search of something more, or simply wondered where their own story truly began, this book offers a nostalgic and heartfelt journey back to that very moment.
