5-Tool Hitter: A Complete Treatise on the Mental Side of Hitting

Hitters are primarily graded on their level of production. Metrics like .OPS (On Base Plus Slugging), .OBP (On Base Percentage) and Slugging Percentage (SLG) are primarily used to measure how productive a hitter is. What helps a hitter increase their chances of maximizing productivity? Their ability to make quality contact with the ball on a consistent basis. Making quality contact with the ball requires key psychological constructs that help increase factors like concentration, confidence and self-regulation to name a few. There are 5 core psychological constructs that all elite hitters regularly exemplify. They are a set of mental skills that can be learned and applied by nearly any hitter with enough purposeful effort. Steve Springer discusses 4 of them in his landmark audio CD called "Quality At Bats". I blend them all together into a useable model so that they help your formulate an elite cognitive map. The 5 Mental Tools of hitting that are discussed in this book will help you maximize your talent so you can compete one pitch at a time.
