More Wonders Of The Invisible World: Or The Wonders Of The Invisible World Displayed (1823)

More Wonders of the Invisible World: or The Wonders of the Invisible World Displayed is a book written by Robert Calef in 1823. The book is a continuation of his earlier work, More Wonders of the Invisible World, which was published in 1700. The book is a historical account of the Salem witch trials that occurred in Massachusetts in the late 17th century. Calef was a contemporary of the trials and was critical of the proceedings. In this book, he argues against the use of spectral evidence and the use of torture to extract confessions from accused witches. Calef also provides a detailed account of the trials and the people involved, including the accusers, the accused, and the judges. He includes transcripts of the court proceedings and letters from those involved. The book is an important historical document that sheds light on the Salem witch trials and the hysteria that surrounded them. It is also a significant work in the history of American literature, as it is one of the earliest works to challenge the official version of events and to give voice to the victims of the trials. In Five Parts. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
