On Inversion Of The Uterus: With Eleven Cases Successfully Treated By The Sigmoid Repositor (1886)

""On Inversion of the Uterus: With Eleven Cases Successfully Treated by the Sigmoid Repositor"" is a medical book written by James Hobson Aveling and first published in 1886. The book focuses on the condition of uterine inversion, which occurs when the uterus turns inside out and protrudes through the cervix into the vaginal canal. Aveling describes the causes, symptoms, and diagnosis of this condition, as well as various treatment methods that were available at the time. The book emphasizes the use of the sigmoid repositor, a medical instrument designed to reposition the uterus by applying pressure to the sigmoid colon. Aveling presents eleven case studies of successful treatment using this method, providing detailed descriptions of the patients' conditions and the procedures used to correct them. The book is aimed at medical professionals and students, and provides a valuable historical perspective on the diagnosis and treatment of uterine inversion in the late nineteenth century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
