Augury

In her 2023 collection, Grace Notes, Nancy Charley explored how grace appears in many forms in our world. In this collection she adds her voice to our planet's pleas for us to resist the 'amazonian urge' to amass more. Feathers, birds, earthworms and flowers all call for us to make some 'small investment in balance in a world out of kilter.' As the Earth-Queen grieves her plundered treasure, Kupferkronen and Rumheorthag, tree genii of the copper beech and silver birch, whisper to any willing to 'embrace reality' but be 'shaped by mystery' to let the 'kindness of strangers suddenly surprise us' and learn how to 'weave the warp and weft in tales' to rewrite our 'blighted story.'
