Works of Walter Scott, Esq: Marmion; a Tale of Flodden Field

"Marmion; a Tale of Flodden Field" is a narrative poem by Walter Scott, first published in 1808. It is set in the time of James IV, King of Scots, and tells the story of Lord Marmion, a fictional character, who is sent on a mission to the Scottish court. The poem is notable for its vivid descriptions of the Scottish landscape and its engaging portrayal of historical events, particularly the Battle of Flodden in 1513. Scott's rich language and storytelling make "Marmion" a classic example of Romantic-era literature, capturing the spirit of adventure and the tragedy of war. This edition preserves the original text, allowing readers to experience Scott's work as it was first presented to the world.
