Koran

The Koran is a religious text in the Islamic faith, believed by Muslims to be the word of God as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. This particular edition of the Koran is translated into English by E. H. Palmer, a British Orientalist and scholar who lived in the 19th century. The translation includes the entire text of the Koran, divided into chapters (surahs) and verses (ayahs), and is accompanied by extensive notes and commentary that provide historical and cultural context for the text. Although I have read this work, I'm not as familiar with the issues surrounding its various renderings into English as I should be. If Mr. Palmer's translation is widely held to be unnacceptable, please let me know, and I'll see if I can't find another.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
