Description

The Story of the Ecossais Lodge of New Orleans is a book written by Gerry L. Prinsen. It is a comprehensive account of the Ecossais Lodge, which is a Masonic lodge based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The book provides a detailed history of the lodge, tracing its origins back to the early 19th century when it was founded by a group of Scottish immigrants. The author delves into the lodge's rituals, traditions, and practices, providing readers with a fascinating insight into the world of Freemasonry. He also explores the role that the Ecossais Lodge has played in the wider community of New Orleans, highlighting its charitable work and community outreach programs. The book is filled with fascinating anecdotes and stories, bringing the history of the Ecossais Lodge to life. It is a must-read for anyone with an interest in Masonic history, or for those who simply want to learn more about one of the oldest and most respected Masonic lodges in the United States. The documents in this volume cover some fifteen years and provide an understanding of Freemasonry in French Louisiana. First come the Regulations, followed by the Special Rules imposed by the lodge Parfaite Union at Saint-Pierre de la Martinique on its daughter-lodge. The New Orleans brethren, desirous of obtaining Constitutions for a Parfaite Loge d'Ecosse, prepared a Projet de Reglement particulier that illuminated their Masonic ideals and in 1756 they sent their Bro. Roussillon to present it to Bordeaux; but Roussillon did not return until 1764, not long before the transfer of New Orleans to Spain, which of course rang the death knell of Freemasonry in Louisiana. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
