Letter To The Queen On Lord Chancellor Cranworth's Marriage And Divorce Bill (1855)

""A Letter to the Queen on Lord Chancellor Cranworth's Marriage and Divorce Bill"" is a book written by Caroline Sheridan Norton in 1855. The book addresses the proposed Marriage and Divorce Bill, which aimed to reform the divorce laws in England. Norton was a prominent social reformer and women's rights activist who had personal experience with the unfairness of the divorce laws. In the book, she argues that the proposed bill would not go far enough in addressing the inequalities faced by women in divorce cases. She also criticizes the bill's provisions for allowing men to divorce their wives on the grounds of adultery while denying women the same right. Norton's letter to the Queen was widely read and helped to spark a public debate about the need for divorce law reform in England. The book remains an important historical document in the fight for women's rights and social justice. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
