On Inversion Of The Uterus: With Eleven Cases Successfully Treated By The Sigmoid Repositor (1886)

On Inversion of the Uterus: With Eleven Cases Successfully Treated by the Sigmoid Repositor is a medical text written by James Hobson Aveling and first published in 1886. The book discusses the condition known as uterine inversion, where the uterus turns inside out and protrudes through the cervix. Aveling presents eleven cases of uterine inversion that were successfully treated using a device he invented called the sigmoid repositor. This device involved inserting a sigmoidoscope into the rectum and using it to elevate the inverted uterus back into its correct position. Aveling provides detailed descriptions of each case, including symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as illustrations of the sigmoid repositor and its use. The book is intended for medical professionals and students interested in obstetrics and gynecology. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
