Dathavansa: Or The History Of The Tooth-Relic Of Gotama Buddha (1874)

The Dathavansa: Or The History Of The Tooth-Relic Of Gotama Buddha is a historical account of the origins and significance of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha, written by Dhammakitti and first published in 1874. The book traces the journey of the tooth relic from the time of the Buddha's death to its eventual arrival in Sri Lanka, where it became a symbol of national identity and spiritual power. Along the way, the author provides detailed descriptions of the various kings, monks, and other figures who played a role in the relic's history, as well as the rituals and ceremonies associated with its veneration. The Dathavansa is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and culture of Buddhism, as well as those seeking a deeper understanding of the role of relics in religious practice. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
