At its essential level, October is a coming-of-age expression of the aesthetics of youth, narrated through the cynical yet artistic perspective of Avery Patel, an individual immersed within the summer of adolescence; the most delicate age of one's existence. Singing lead in a garage band, Avery depicts the ambitions of a young performer through a realistic lens, illustrating life as a musician as inherently dysfunctional rather than what the social status suggests. Directly following a collective hardship, the band is forced to encounter the fragility of their own lives, placing their own existence into finite perspective.
