Cold Advance I: Preserving the Republic

What will happen when the human race, possessed of technological wonders and its age-old drives and weaknesses, still bound to its planet of origin, faces the inevitable next Ice Age? In Cold Advance I: Preserving the Republic, the planet cools; the world heats up. A millennium of global cooling and famine compels a vast empire to pursue fresh conquests or face certain annihilation. In the peaceful, insular Republic of Pacifica, a bookish microbiology teacher and a self-assured waterfront police officer believe they have successfully thwarted a foreign attempt to smuggle plague across their borders. Unsure of friend or foe, they inexorably become front-line warriors against an enemy plot to destroy their nation and their very way of life.
