Five Children And It

""Five Children and It"" is a classic children's fantasy novel written by Edith Nesbit. The story follows five siblings - Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother - who discover a magical creature called a Psammead, or sand-fairy, while playing in a gravel pit. The Psammead has the power to grant wishes, but with a catch - the wishes only last until sunset and often have unintended consequences. The children embark on a series of adventures and misadventures as they make wishes and try to undo the trouble they cause. Along the way, they learn important lessons about responsibility, friendship, and the consequences of their actions. Set in Edwardian England, ""Five Children and It"" is a charming and whimsical tale that has delighted generations of readers. The morning after the children had been the possessors of boundless wealth, and had been unable to buy anything really useful or enjoyable with it, except two pairs of cotton gloves, twelve penny buns, an imitation crocodile-skin purse, and a ride in a pony-cart, they awoke without any of the enthusiastic happiness which they had felt on the previous day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
