Made in the mill towns by Scottish weavers, and grown into the most glamorous small dog in the ring.
The Yorkshire Terrier - A Complete Anthology of the Dog gathers the early writing on the breed from the rare kennel books in our library, by the breed authorities of their day. The dog they describe came out of the weaving towns of Yorkshire and Lancashire, where Scottish weavers brought their terriers south; its foundation sire, Huddersfield Ben, lived from 1865 to 1871, and the name only settled around 1870, before which these dogs were shown as broken-haired Scotch terriers.
Points, that famous coat and its management, temperament, celebrated dogs and their pedigrees are all set out, with the original photographs reproduced throughout.
