The Touchstone was published in 1900 and was Edith Wharton's first published novel. Written by a Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist, this is what one expects to be: A great novel, although a short one. The plot is about Stephen Glennard, who sells letters of love written by a famous author to raise money and marry his fiancee.
