Cari wishes that she could rewind time. She wants nothing to do with her and her mom's new life in the valley, especially after a devastating storm causes the nearby river to flood their house.

As she and her mom rebuild, Cari learns about a plan to reintroduce beavers to the local ecosystem. She immediately gets involved: these previously extinct animals naturally transform waterways in ways that can prevent future flooding. But change is scary, and not everyone in the community is on board.
